guitar hero

so for owen's birthday we invited over family and friends and had an amazing time. towards the end of the party we pulled out guitar hero and everyone got in on the action. it is addictive and i'm sure that in a few months owen and ava will be on the hard level, right up there with ty.

kickboxing anyone?

so i just started kickboxing classes and owen is having a blast playing with my gloves. i take two classes a week and i love it. the workout is great and i'm learning a lot. but i'm pretty fussy about my gloves... i chose white ones cause they were pretty, but now i'm afraid they'll get dirty.

thank you

for being our worship leader
for the hard work you put into it for so many years
for inspiring us to sing and dance
for teaching us new songs
for being authentic every week
for learning how to play each chord the best way
for never being ok with being out of tune
for your humble spirit
for sharing the stage with me
for preferring that the spotlights not shine on you
for striving for excellence
for encouraging me
for sharing a chef's choice with ham and green peppers
for the awkward closing moments
for singing the melody
for being a great leader
for considering our opinions valuable
for letting me write songs with you
for letting the music speak for itself
for being transparent and vulnerable with us
for hating the idea of going through the motions
for doing the set lists
for setting up the sound system
for setting a new standard
for tuesday nights
for sunday afternoons
for allowing yourself to be led by the Spirit
for taking requests
for playing until your fingers hurt
for helping us see God
for finishing well
for being our worship leader

i love you buddy
you are an amazing person
we cannot thank you enough
for everything you have been
and will continue to be

well done my friend

month 24

our little boy is finally 2! i cant believe that we have been a family for this long, which i know isnt long, it's just that time sure does go quickly. he is a talking machine now, learning so many new things everyday, sleeping in a big boy bed, wanting to take showers instead of baths, and just becoming more and more independent every moment. i love being his mom.

johnny brenda's

we all had such an amazing time on friday night. thank you to all of you who came and supported the guys on their cd release of Love! Reilly opened up the night with a killer set, and if you havent picked up one of their new cds, it's a must also. johnny brenda's was a great place with an awesome atmosphere, plus it was packed with all of you guys, our friends. at one point during the night they wouldnt let anymore people in, so, sorry that some of you might have had to wait downstairs. i think there were over 400 people that made it out that night, and if you were not able to make it, you were definitely missed.

new bed

this is owen's favorite place to be when we are upstairs. naptime and bedtime now have a different feel to them. instead of rocking a baby to sleep and placing him in a crib, we are now telling a little boy 'do not turn on the light, no more books, no more read, and do not get out of your bed.' we have checked off another milestone in our little boys life, and now i guess the next big one coming up is potty training. which he actually did go peepee in the potty the other night.... i think it was a fluke though.

no more boycotting

i cant believe that it's been almost a month, shy of one week, since we have last posted. i know its bad when my dad said to us the other night, "look guys, i'm sick and tired of looking at the love post, i'm boycotting your blog until you update." so, in thinking of my dads well being, i am posting.

so lets see.... christmas.... seems so long ago. we had a great time celebrating at my parents house with my sister and her husband, my brother, and my grandparents. we then headed out to celebrate with brians family that evening. we had a wonderful time and it was just great being all together. my grandparents bought owen a drum set... yes, i am crazy to have put that on his list. but every morning when we come downstairs he yells 'numb', for drum. very cute.... and we turn on a music video and he drums along. thank goodness it doesnt last all day, just long enough for me to clean things up and do some laundry.

owen got sick again this year... which leads me to our next event... the weekend after christmas, RADIATE 07, which owen and i did not attend. major big bummer for me. brian and the guys led worship at a conference for 5 days in D.C., which you can read more about at the lusby blog. i was pretty sad over the whole thing, but.... the xbox 360 made up for being lonely, especially since tyler came over just about every night to play, but i truly missed being with everyone.

so.... we are now getting back into the swing of being at home, with nothing major going on in the next few weeks and i am really looking forward to that.... oh wait....

if you have nothing to do... or even if you do, cancel, and come out to johnny brenda's!
