month 20

dear owen,
today you are 20 months old. time flies as they say, since the last time i wrote you were 18 months. you are growing so fast and becoming such a fascinating little guy. you walk weird, you say silly things, and best of all you are completely happy.

this past week you have also started waking up at 5am, calling 'mama' and patting your diaper, letting me know that you need to be changed. i really dont understand why you cant wait till 8am for that, but i guess it's possibly a step in potty training. and maybe you would go on the potty if i didnt throw the pillow over my head trying to muffle out the mama cry for 30min.

you are the absolute cutest though and your grin always makes me smile. today i found the best toy for you though, and it didnt cost a thing. the other week you watched me dismantle our back storm door with a screwdriver and every time you see it, you just want to play with it. so today as i was cleaning the kitchen, i opened the back door and gave it to you. a REAL screwdriver. i think you spent over 30min trying to "fix" the door. it was great, i got a ton done. then you started running with it, and we all know that since you cant run with scissors, you definitely cant run with screwdrivers.

God really did know what he was doing when he paired us up. it is such an incredible thought, thinking that such a great God would touch our lives so personally in giving us you.

love, mama

thanks aunt meredith

my sister gave owen a cat toy. she has cats and bought this hamster that runs in circles along the floor. so since her cats didnt like playing with it, she decided that owen probably would. interestingly enough owen loved it. it has two motorized rubber wheels that grab hair like a champ. after two hair eating experiences it now lives in the trash.

er trip

last night was a pretty scary thing for me. owen and i were playing in the living room, waiting for brian to come home. as we were chasing each other around the room, owen decided to grab onto the back of the couch and try to climb up it. he slipped and fell and hit the side of his temple on the hardwood floor. i quickly grabbed him and thought nothing of it.... kids always take spills. he cried, but then he took a long deep breath and i was thinking 'oh gosh, here is comes... the scream.' but nothing, he started passing out.... eyes rolling back and everything. i was in shock, i couldnt believe it. so i called 911 right away. as i was talking to the operator he started coming to... but of course the guy couldnt figure out where we lived.... incredibly frustrating. well, owen started acting ok, a bit of a scrape on the side of his head, nothing major. i started to tell the operator 'i think he's ok... he's ok...' the guy was like... 'nope, i'm sending the ambulance.' the ambulance came and the emt's were great with him and he was so fascinated with all the stuff in the ambulance, he was just as happy as can be. they did end up taking him to the hospital though for precautionary reasons. the whole ride he asked for dada. and when we did arrive and get checked in, he figured that since he was stuck in this bed he would stand up and tackle the pillow as the doctor and nurse came in. basically, he was fine.... and he passed out cause he was holding his breath and there isnt even a mark on his head. there is something about taking an ambulance to the er though, from the time i called 911 to the time we arrived home - 1hr. it's the way to go... that is until we see the bill.

paris

the last time we were in paris was in march after finishing up from our travels in germany with the band. it was quite amazing then, and just as amazing now. our flight left dubai at 1am and we arrived in paris around 6am. by 7:30am we were sitting in a cafe drinking coffee and tea and eating croissant's and crepes. i have to say that it felt amazing. we had a 7hr layover in paris so we decided to take the train into the city. we walked from notre dame, through the gardens of the louve, and straight up through the champs elysees, almost reaching the arc de triumph. to top off the whole experience, on our way to the train to head back to the airport, we stopped off in a cafe and bought baguettes. they were most definitely the best thing we ate on our entire trip.

sand & bellies

sorry for the lack of daily updates. lets just say that the internet service is kinda acting weird with blogger.

anyway... yesterday a group of us probably signed up for the most touristy thing you can do in the UAE. we went off-roading in the sand dunes and enjoy a bbq dinner in the desert with belly dancing. i'm not sure where the bbq came in, cause i didnt see any or taste anything that was bbq'd. the food was great though.... and of course the off-roading was incredible. well, one of the girls got sick in the car, so that wasnt so incredible.
