one cool/special/no cost thing to do

.... every day. when asked how long she had, my mom used to say "i have as long as you have, i have today. what are you going to do with your today?" so i'm taking that to heart lately. my goal is to find one cool/special/no cost thing to do every day. it can be the simplest thing like coloring and finger painting, to the most extreme.... which is what i'm looking for. but... it has to fill the above criteria. and, i have to be able to take a two year old along for the ride. any ideas???

paper mache, random acts of kindness for your neighbors (baking cookies, etc), making home-made cards and sending them out, put on music and sing g and dance with owen, build forts in your living room with blankets and then read books with a flashlight, as for extreme...I don't have many ideas for you that aren't costly...for now, enjoy the small things.

I used to look for construction sites to take my son to. We would watch the front loaders or earth movers and talk about life. I'd also drive to fields full of cows or horses and just stand at the fence and watch quietly. It was always a special time being together. Another special time was taking a sleeping bag out on the deck at night to look at the stars. All free and all full of adventure.
